Subject: Complaint Letter to Air Canada
To whom it may concern,
I am writing to file a complaint against Air Canada and seek compensation for the emotional distress and damages caused by the crew on Flight AC 081 from Tel Aviv to Toronto, which departed at 11:55 AM local time on September 18, 2023.
Yesterday marked one of the worst days of my life, an experience I will never forget. I wouldn’t wish it upon anyone. Everything seemed to be going smoothly until a fellow passenger began shouting insults and obscenities against the Jewish community, calling them derogatory names and making offensive comments. Feeling attacked and offended, I decided to take out my cell phone and record the incident (a significant mistake on my part). The cabin crew asked me to delete the video, to which I responded that I would consult with my lawyer upon arrival to determine whether it was fair to delete the footage. They agreed with my decision and left.
Approximately two hours before landing, a male flight attendant approached the woman who had offended the Jewish community in a terrible manner and began making jokes, chatting, and laughing with her, as if nothing had happened. When the attendant approached my row, I expressed my disbelief at how he could condone her behavior, laughing and joking as if nothing had occurred in the cabin. I suggested that he should have instead reprimanded her, shown disapproval, or at the very least maintained some distance and impartiality.
As a result of my complaint, his female colleague requested my last name and delivered a reprimand from the captain of the flight in a rude and offensive manner, making me feel like the aggressor rather than the victim.
But the ordeal didn’t end there. Upon landing, a police officer approached me and demanded that I immediately leave the aircraft, instructing me to stand up and exit with my frightened young daughter. We felt as though we were being treated like criminals, humiliated in front of the horrified passengers. With the police officer by our side, we were repeatedly told to remain silent. All of this happened simply because I had called out the flight attendant for behaving intimately with the woman in question.
As we exited the plane, the officer warned me that I could never re-enter Canada. I was told to stand aside and say nothing. My daughter and I will never forget this terrible humiliation. My daughter became physically unwell, experiencing stomach pains due to the stress caused by the situation. I continued to tremble, and my blood pressure dropped. This was an unprecedented and unjust incident that inflicted severe damage to our moral and psychological well-being.
I am requesting compensation for the damages and suffering we endured. Additionally, I demand that the report filed against me upon disembarkation be canceled, with reference number PR230302964.
The badge number of the police officer was 4141.
Sincerely,
Monica Denisse Garcia Gonzales
